Ooooops I did it again !
When Colin doesn't want to go to school and turns out a musician.
Today, at 3 pm. The door opened and the phone rang. Colin was coming
home much too early and the school teacher was calling to tell that he had
disappeared.
After a small discussion with the teacher we decided not
to send him back to school but have him 'work' at home for the extra minutes he
missed.
But what to work on ? The little kid can already read and
count much better than all of his schoolmates. So I decided to give him some
music lessons.
So we took the recorder for 20 minutes and the theory
book for another 20 or so.
Colin is absolutely amazing. Probably even
better than ChloƩ. I can't believe how fast he's learning. Am I proud ?
Well.... kind of, but I'm also scared. I've taught music theory and recorder to
kids for a long enough time to be able to compare to 'normal' kids. Colin is way
beyond normal.
Well.... I still am not sure Colin's a musician. He
doesn't sing on key, he can't tell which note is the highest or lowest.... but
he can read already read notes and simple rhythms after 20 minutes of learning.
Just as fast as the few adults students I've had could.
For those who
don't know him, he's a kindergarten kid ! Am I bragging ? I'd say I'm just
sharing my thoughts and worries.
